Area
Flaminio is one of the 15 neighbourhoods born in Rome in 1911 and owes its name to the Via Flaminia, which crosses the entire area.
The neighbourhood rises on the left bank of the Tiber, expanding between Piazza del Popolo and Ponte Milvio.
With the International Exhibition of 1911 the area was recognized for its prevailing cultural character as well as for its sporting and leisure characteristics: in this area the Hippodrome of the Parioli, the National Stadium, the different venues of Valle Giulia, the National Gallery of Modern Art and the foreign pavilions are located.
With the assignment of the Olympic Games in Rome in 1960, the Olympic Village, the Sports Palace and the Flaminio Stadium were built.

More recently and absolute must is the Auditorium Parco della Musica, intended for performances and concerts, which can hold 3000 spectators. Designed by Renzo Piano, it is a multifunctional complex featuring 3 harmonic speakers that seem to fly over a sea of vegetation. There are also several spaces for commercial, recreational, study and exhibition activities.
Also worthy of note is the MAXXI, contemporary art gallery designed by Zaha Hadid, which houses permanent collections, exhibitions and spaces dedicated to the cafeteria and bookshop.

The neighborhood is full of places to visit, such as Villa Borghese with its many attractions inside, the Tempietto di Esculapio, the Casina delle Rose with the Casa del Cinema, the Bioparco or the Globe Theater.
Finally the future City of Sciences will be hosted in the former Guido Reni Military Barracks.
