Our Opinion:
Perugino is the ideal apartment for a couple or small family who wants to stay in the centre of Florence in a modern and welcoming apartment. The area is perfect for all those who want to reach the city’s major points of interest on foot.

Please note that there is a nightclub downstairs therefore the apartment can be noisy at night.

Area:
The apartment is located within the Duomo district in Florence’s historic city centre. The Duomo area constitutes the very heart of Florence and the area takes its name from Brunelleschi’s magnificent dome on the wonderful Santa Maria del Fiore cathedral. The Duomo neighbourhood offers an array of beautiful historical buildings and superb piazzas including the Mercato di San Lorenzo, the Piazza del Duomo and Piazza della Repubblica, famous for its attractive cafes, patisserie shops, live music, street performers, and caricature artists. Furthermore, the area is surrounded by the city’s main cultural attractions, notably Piazza della Signoria, Palazzo Vecchio, Ponte Vecchio, the Bargello Palace, and Casa Buonarroti, the former home of Michelangelo, not to mention the Uffizi Gallery and the museum dedicated to the city’s cathedral “Museo dell'Opera del Duomo.” The area also has much to offer in terms of fine dining and exclusive boutique shopping. The top Italian fashion houses are located along Via Tornabuoni, Via Calzaiuoli, and Via del Corso and include the famous names of Salvatore Ferragamo, Armani, Versace, Fendi, Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Tiffany & Co. and many more. For those choosing an apartment in this area, the Duomo quarter also offers several delicatessens otherwise known as “alimentari,” supermarkets, laundromats, and gift shops as well as being adequately served by local public transportation.

Parking:
The Florence city centre is a ZTL zone which means a “limited traffic zone” and therefore special rules apply to when you can enter this area. This particular apartment is in fact located within the ZTL zone so this means that if you are thinking of coming to Florence by car and wish to drive around and park, then you will need to pay special attention to the road signs, CCTV cameras and access cameras (they will show either a red /green light) in order to avoid receiving fines. Guests who need to travel within the ZTL zone by car to reach their apartment are advised to contact one of the private garages in the centre (the one nearest the apartment you are staying in) and obtain a temporary access permit. Upon arrival at the garage, guests must specify their need for access in the ZTL and the garage will then note the vehicle’s number plate and forward it to the appropriate police headquarters.

  • 4.9/5 It has been a pleasure working with Halldis! They are very professional and the check-in, check-out process was GREAT! The apartment was exactly as stated in the description. The location of the apartment couldn't be more perfect to explore Florence. It is especially nice after a full day of exploring with 3 young children to be so centrally located. There are bars, restaurants, a grocery store, all within 2 min walking or less! Everything in the apartment was clean, the kitchen was well stocked to cook your own meals, the beds were comfortable. It was especially nice to have the washing machine. The WiFi is intermittente, but is quickly fixed by restarting the WiFi router. The ONLY drawback is the nightclub on the first floor of the building the apartment is in... They go from midnight to 4 am. We resorted to sleeping with ear plugs after yelling out the window did not calm the drunk crowds down. There is no elevator up to the 4th floor, but this was not an issue for us. We were the first people to stay in the apartment after a complete renovation. So the apartment is new as of April 2016. Even if you don't choose this specific apartment, I would HIGHLY recommend you book through Halldis (Windows On Italy). They are so professional and just a pleasure to work with! I have already booked my next trip to Florence with them and this time we are going with 2 other families.
