The neighborhood Tuscolano is located in the south-east of Rome, close to the Aurelian walls and is amongst the first 15 neighborhoods born in 1911 and officially established in 1921.
The neighborhood takes its name from Via Tuscolana, the ancient medieval road that takes you from Porta San Giovanni in Rome to the Castelli Romani, in Tusculum (that today is called Frascati). Today via Tuscolana runs parallel to the Via Appia, from Piazza Sulmona to the town of Macere (Artena).
The Tuscolano is also popular because of the famous Cinecittà film studios, the most important production center of the film industry and also for Cinecittà Due shopping center, which was the first ever built in Rome.
The area is full of shops, supermarkets, restaurants and bars, and a few steps from the apartment you will also find the street market of Via Orvieto.
