Via delle Fornaci is located in the Aurelio neighbourhood, on the western side of the city, close to the Vatican and the Aurelian Walls. The neighbourhood is named after the famous Via Aurelia, which reaches the sea. The neighbourhood is within walking distance from major places of interest, including the Vatican (you can see the statues on the front of the basilica from via delle Fornaci). The Aurelio neighbourhood is still very authentic where local residents mingle with tourists, professionals, students and workers. Nearby are also via Cola di Rienzo, the shopping street with boutiques, bars and restaurants, the Zodiac, which offers a splendid view of Rome while enjoying renowned ice cream and tasty cocktails, and the Trionfale market, the first local Roman market, one of the largest in Italy and even in Europe.
Via delle Fornaci is located a few steps from the Vatican City, CapitalCatholic World and the smallest state in the world, with the majestic Basilica of San Pietro in the centre , from where every Sunday the Pope recites the Angelus.
For sport lovers at the foot of Monte Mario is the Stadio dei Marmi with 60 statues of athletes donated by the Italian provinces, the Olympic Stadium, the Tennis Stadium which hosts every year the Internazionali BNL of Italy and the swimming Stadium known as the Foro Italico. The complex was built in the late twenties and was finshed in 1960 for the Olympic Games in Rome.
