The neighbourhood is developed around the Termini Station and Piazza Vittorio and preserves an elegant and slightly austere architecture, the only example still present in Rome. Some of the most beautiful and important historical sites are in this neighbourhood; the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, the church of San Pietro in Vincoli, the National Roman Museum and, on the Oppian Hill, the Domus Aurea.
