The apartment is located in an historic building built for the State Railway Company in 1913, the last building was completed on the 22nd October 1915. During this period the First World War broke out and it is said that many women were used to finish the construction because most of the men had left for the war. American bombers unloaded 179 bombs on the Ostiense Station, the Trastevere and Garbatella neighbourhood. The bombers did not hit their target and a few bombs hitthe building in Giovanni da Castel Bolognese and Via Ettore Rolli, devastating the buildings 'G', 'F' and the small school in the courtyard.
The beautiful actress Elsa Martinelli, came to live in this building and consequently saw the passing of well-known actors and characters of the movie industry. The young diva smoked wonderful American filtered cigarettes, she only took two or three puffs and then threw them in the yard. The butts immediately became and objest of interest.
