Refined and romantic 1 bedroom apartment located on the 1st floor (with elevator) in an elegant, historic building in the Quadrilatero di Bologna, the beating heart of the historic city center that is made up of small, characteristic streets with boutiques and cafés all around Piazza Maggiore.

This apartment of about 55 sq. mt., was completely renovated and equipped with modern fittings and furnishings in April 2018. The property is bright and characterized by high quality finishes including air conditioning, central heating, and the latest generation of anti-noise fixtures. The furnishings were chosen to create an extremely contemporary, but at the same time, stately atmosphere.

The entrance opens onto an antechamber equipped with a custom-made (like all the other furnishings) coat rack. The fully equipped kitchen has an electric oven and dishwasher and overlooks the building’s internal courtyard through a large window. In front of the large window, there is a counter, ideal for breakfast. Next to the kitchen is the living room, furnished with a round dining table for 4 guests, a comfortable double sofa bed (140 cm x 200 cm), and a TV cabinet.

The bedroom with double bed (140 cm x 200 cm) has a large window that illuminates the room. To store your things, there is a wardrobe with 2 doors and a large container under the bed. The Italian ceramics, cabinets produced by the skilled hand of a carpenter, suspended sanitary ware, and the spacious custom shower make the bathroom’s style extremely pleasant and full of character. The apartment is equipped with both washing machine and dryer. However, extra cleaning and change of linens are available upon request throughout your stay.

- Coffee machine (electric Moka)
- ADSL Internet with Wi-Fi
- Washing machine and dryer, iron, and ironing board
- Central heating (active from 15/10 to 15/04) and air conditioning with splits in every room

The location is undoubtedly enviable and allows guests to feel that the whole city revolves around them. In fact, right below the apartment, you can get lost in historic shops and artisanal delicatessens, but also go shopping at the elegant high fashion boutiques and exclusive antique shops.
The building is located right in Bologna city centre: Piazza Maggiore is the city’s main square and is surrounded by some of its most precious buildings. The oldest one is Palazzo Podestà, dating back to 1200 and dominated by the Arengo Tower; Palazzo Re Enzo, famous for its cross vaults, is right at the back.
Opposite Palazzo dei Banchi you find Palazzo d'Accursio, a monumental architectonical complex dating back to the XIV century home to Bologna town hall. On the fourth side of the square there is San Petronio Basilica, a brilliant example of Italian gothic, started at the end of the XIV century and never completed. Palazzo Banchi is connected to the most important ‘portico’ in Italy – known as Pavaglione– developing from Piazza Maggiore to Palazzo dell'Archiginnasio, that first hosted Bologna university.
Nowadays the university is located at approx. 5 minutes on foot from the building, in via Zamboni; in the vicinity you also find the Teatro Comunale, largely renowned for the opera season.
The most important historic sights of Bologna are just minutes away, such as Piazza Santo Stefano (with seven churches built one into the other and the Corte Isolani) and the Two Towers (Torre degli Asinelli and Torre della Garisenda). The ‘portico’ of Palazzo dei Banchi is one of the fourth sides of the ‘Quadrilatero’: a complex of pedestrian streets filled with mouthwatering shops offering the best products of the area (hand-made pasta, sausages, wine) and fresh groceries.
And if you miss shopping, enjoy a spree around via Indipendenza, the boutiques of Galleria Cavour and the refined shops of via Farini and via d'Azeglio.

Public transports
The closest bus stop is located in via Rizzoli and allows to quickly reach the railway station (take here the shuttle bus to the airport), to Bologna fair and the main hospitals. All the major sights in Bologna are within walking distance.

The apartment is located in a Limited Traffic Area (ZTL). On Saturdays and Sundays the city centre is a pedestrian area.
You can park in the nearby Piazza Galvani, accessed from via Farini, or you can leave your car in Piazza VIII Agosto, at 5 minutes on foot from Piazza Maggiore.

Information on driving in the center of Bologna:
In case of longer-term stays (over 3 months), it is possible to request a permit to enter the historic city center. For guests staying just for a short time, the local government admits entry to the city centre by car for only 4 consecutive days in the course of a month, or 3 non-consecutive days.

Access is granted by buying a ticket (€ 6.00) that is available at the ATC point located on Via Marconi 4, on the corner of Via Lame or at the tobacco shop next to the Basilica of San Petronio, right in Piazza Maggiore.

Alternatively, you can park in the parking lot of Piazza VIII Agosto (€ 20.00 per day, or € 200.00 for the entire month), which is located outside the ZTL. Then you can walk to the apartment, which is less than a 10 minute walk away.
