The apartment is located in the Celio neighbourhood, one of the seven hills of Rome, located behind the Colliseum and the Esquiline hill. The other hills of Rome are the Capitol, the Viminale, the Palatine, the Aventine, the Esquiline and The Quirinale.
Celio's most ancient name was "Mons Querquetulanus" (the "mountain of the oaks"), the present name, due to "Caeleus" (Vielna), one of the two brothers of Vulci, who was helped by Servio Tullio, the sixth king of Rome, to occupy first Celio and then Rome.
In this neighbourhood the legionaries who had followed Scipio in Africa lived there. In the imperial age, Celio hosted various religious buildings, including the Temple of the Claudius divo, and several illustrious aristocratic families in Rome, such as the Valeri, the Anci, the Simmaci and the Annii, as well as several barracks for the troops in the capital.
In this hill there was a very important Christian presence, and today there are numerous churches and basilicas. At the top of Celio lies the charming Villa Celimontana, once belonged to the Mattei family and now used as a public park. Inside there are numerous finds of different ages and backgrounds, like the fragmentary obelisk of Ramsete.
From the northern slopes of the hill you can finally admire the Colosseum valley, the Flavian Amphitheater and the Arch of Constantine.
A ride between stalls and a snack at one of the many bars is the ideal way to live the neighbourhood and share special moments with the local residents. There are plenty of trattorias, pizzerias and fine restaurants where you can try the typical Roman cuisine, and café and wine bar where to have an aperitif.
Some of the most popular places are:
- Naumachia Restaurant, Roman and Tuscan cuisine in a sober style tavern with about 70 Italian and foreign wine labels, Via Celimontana, 7
- The 40th Taverna, historic local with ceiling ceiling and terrace, where to enjoy pizzas and abundant typical Roman dishes, Via Claudia, 24
- Caffé Propaganda, Parisian style bistrot-coffee in Via Claudia, 15.

The closest supermarket is located in Via Annia 14 (Tuodì Celio).
