The neighbourhood develops along Via Appia Nuova, that starts at Porta San Giovanni, close to San Giovanni in Laterano Basilica. The area is very well served by public transport - not only bus lines, but first and foremost the subway line A which follows the Via Appia itself.
In 5 stops (Colli Albani, Furio Camillo, Ponte Lungo, Re di Roma and San Giovanni), you easily reach the most important points of interest located along the road.
From Piazzale Appio up to Largo dei Colli Albani, on both sides of the street, you find plenty of shops and malls: for this reason, Via Appia is reckoned as the most important shopping street in Rome, besides the city centre. The park of Appia Antica Park is a "green space" for the neighbourhoods Appio Latino and San Giovanni. Appio Latino is a fairly central neighbourhood and is well connected to the various parts of the city and is very rich in services like restaurants, pubs, cinemas, gyms and shops and has a huge park, Parco della Caffarella, where it's possible do outdoor activities.
Do not miss the new mall "Happio" in Via Appia 448, with over 30 shops and restaurants (open daily, from 09.00 to 21.00, restaurants 10.00 -24.00, always from Monday to Sunday).
