Venezia Città (n° 16 properties meet your filter criteria)

Venice is one the few cities in the world that can truly be described as unique: built entirely on a lagoon. An ancient port for the Orient, in the middle ages its maritime power influenced the whole of the Mediterranean up to Constantinople. Known for its marvellous monuments, city of canals and ancient palaces transformed into luxury residencies and museums, it is one of the most visited artistic cities in Italy. The traditional neighbourhoods were split into five main areas : Dorsoduro, Cannaregio, Giudecca, San Marco/Castello, and Santa Croce/San Polo.

Cannaregio: 1 properties meet your filter criteria.

The Cannaregio neighbourhood, the most northern in Venice, extends from the Grand Canal to the Lagoon. It is historically divided into two parts; an older part that looks onto the Grand Canal and its palazzi, and the other that has most recently been developed and is the most populated. Even today this is a densely populated part of the city, quiet and unpolluted, separated by large canals and reached by various bridges. Throughout the area you can find ancient eateries and inns.

Dorsoduro: 8 properties meet your filter criteria.

Dorsoduro is Venice’s most southern neighbourhood where, by exploring on foot, you can admire numerous important testimonies to its artistic and historical past: Ca’ Rezzonico and the Scuola Grande dei Carmini (with designs by Tiepolo). It is the art fanatics’ neighbourhood in that it includes the area around the Accademia, the Peggy Guggenheim collection and some churches (Santa Maria della Salute) that own some of the most precious paintings and sculptures in existence.

S. Marco / Castello: 7 properties meet your filter criteria.

San Marco is the district that for centuries has represented the city’s political, social, and cultural centre. Amongst the main monuments looking directly onto the lagoon, not to miss are: Piazza San Marco with the Basilica of the same name; the bell tower; the watchtower; the magnificent Ducal Palace, and the Ponte de Sospiri. A little to the north is the neighbourhood Castello, calm and characterised by narrow streets, palaces and beautiful churches, including the gothic Santi Giovanni e Paolo church, and the Pietà where Vivaldi was the choir master, and where every Tuesday and Thursday evening you can still listen to his music while admiring the Tiepolo frescoes.
