Set on the hillside of Settignano (Italy) with extraordinary views of Florence and the surrounding Arno valley, Villa Rossellina is renowned for its splendid gardens, celebrated throughout the world by leading landscape architects and garden historians.
Completed in the early seventeenth century by the Florentine noble Zanobi Lapi in Tuscan style, the Villa combines interesting architectural features of both an urban palazzo and a suburban villa.

In the eighteenth century, the property belonged to the Marchesi Capponi, and by that time the house and gardens had acquired the characteristic elements seen in the famous engraving by Giuseppe Zocchi (1744): the cypress alley, bowling green, nymphaeum, grotto garden, parterre and lemon garden.
At the end of nineteenth century, Princess Catherine Jeanne Ghika began the transformation of the parterre de broderie into the beautiful parterre d’eau, enclosed at its southern end by a majestic cypress arcade. Elegant expressions of topiary art were created by Mathilda Ledyard Cass, Baroness von Ketteler, in the following decades. Following the partial destruction of the Villa during the Second World War, Rossellina was acquired in 1954 by Marcello Marchi, whose family had founded important Italian industries and owned other historic properties in Tuscany. In 1994 the Villa passed to the present owners, who have continued the work of conservation and restoration.

The villa divided in two floors is composed as following:
Ground floor: Entrance with vaulted ceilings, hall, 4 double/twin bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and one half bathroom. The ground floor of the Villa comprise two elegantly appointed salons, an interior colonnaded courtyard and a dining room.
First floor: 5 double/twin bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, one half bathroom, a large living room leading to a furnished terrace overlooking the garden, dining room, large kitchen, laundry, library, lift.

This villa is huge and elegant property perfect for who is looking for the best. The villa, fully staffed, perfectly located, with modern amenities and with 9 beautiful bedrooms is a great choice for large groups who wish to have an unforgettable experience in Tuscany.

The villa can only be booked from Saturday to Saturday.

Reviews

  • 4.7/5 Hi, my name is Jamie and i would like to recommend Villa Rossellina to anyone travelling on leisure to Tuscany. It has a fantastic location and great restaurants around... Villa itself was very clean and well stocked. Guys at the check in were extremely polite and they even called to check if everything was alright during our stay - I was really impressed.
  • 4.7/5 The service was very much professional. I loved being in a villa decorated in a true Tuscan style and I would like to come again next June for a longer period this time.
