Tiziano is a one bedroom apartment rental located on the Oltrarno side of Florence close to Santo Spirito, just a short walk from Ponte Vecchio. The apartment is well furnished and has Sky TV and Internet and is the perfect choice for a vacation in Italy.

Located on the 3rd floor (with elevator), this apartment measuring 60 m² is split on two floors and consists of a bright living-room with double sofa bed (160 cm wide), an elegant and well equipped kitchen with dining table, a bathroom with shower, a small laundry area, and a master bedroom in the loft space (15 stairs to climb from the living room). The entire apartment has original cotto tiled floors.

The apartment is located inside Palazzo Medici, an impressive building (palazzo) dating back to the XVI century which represents a typical example of true renaissance Florentine architecture. The palazzo is located in Via dei Serragli, on the characteristic Oltrarno side of Florence just a stone’s throw from the city’s main monuments and tourist attractions.
Palazzo Medici is now home to 8 elegant apartments thanks to a recent restoration programme which has skilfully combined modern comforts and luxury furnishings maintaining the building’s original historical features which include beautiful serena stone columns, magnificent frescoes and coffered wooden ceilings. The building also boasts a grand, triangular-shaped glass elevator which connects the 8 apartments spread over 3 floors, and there is a covered loggia on the third floor which belongs to the Buonarroti apartment. Each of the apartments has its own real unique and enchanting atmosphere that will take you back in time without comprising on comfort and practicality. Palazzo Medici is ideal for large groups or families who wish to visit Florence and stay together in one building by combining two or more apartments.

Area
The apartment is located on Via dei Serragli, a wonderful and vibrant street, which forms part of the Oltrarno district in Florence’s historic city. The name “Oltrarno” literally means “beyond the Arno” and this district which stretches along the south bank of the river represents a different facet of Florence to that which is found near the Duomo. The Oltrarno perhaps displays the true character of Florence and in general is slightly quieter, greener and more relaxed than the other districts of Florence. Indeed many tourists tend to choose the Oltrarno for this reason. Traditionally an artisans’ quarter, the Oltrarno still boasts today many lovely antique shops and artisans’ studios (particularly furniture and leather-workers) and Via Maggio remains the focus of Florence’s thriving antiques trade.
Over time the Oltrarno became a rather chic area and many aristocrats chose this neighbourhood to build their villas and palaces, the largest of these being the Pitti Palace, which became the home of the various Grand Dukes. Today this sumptuous palace houses several important museums which rank amongst the best in Florence. Other major sights the Oltrarno has to offer are the Cappella Brancacci with the fabulous frescoes of Masaccio, Piazzale Michelangelo with its breath-taking views over Florence, the magnificent church of San Miniato, (one of the highest points in the city of Florence and also one of the best examples of Romanesque architecture within Tuscany) together with the most famous and oldest bridge in Florence, Ponte Vecchio, home to a glittering array of jewellery shops and goldsmiths.
Extending up the hill from the Pitti Palace are the formal Boboli Gardens, an outdoor museum of garden sculpture that includes Roman antiquities as well as 16th and 17th century works. The Oltrarno is famous for its wine bars such as Olio & Convivium, authentic trattorias serving typical Tuscan cuisine, including Il Santo Bevitore, I 4 Leoni and Il Magazzino, not to mention the wonderful fresh produce market held every morning in Piazza Santo Spirito. For those choosing an apartment in this area the Oltrarno quarter also offers a choice of grocery stores, patisserie, bakeries, gift shops and much more.

Parking
Florence city centre is a ZTL zone which means a “limited traffic zone” and therefore special rules apply to when you can enter this area. This particular apartment is in fact located within the ZTL zone so this means that if you are thinking of coming to Florence by car and wish to drive around and park, then you will need to pay special attention to the road signs, CCTV cameras and access cameras (they will show either a red/green light) in order to avoid receiving fines. Guests who need to travel within the ZTL zone by car to reach their apartment are advised to contact one of the private garages in the centre (the one nearest the apartment you are staying in) and obtain a temporary access permit. Upon arrival at the garage, guests must specify they need access for the ZTL and the garage will then note the vehicle’s number plate and forward it to the appropriate police headquarters.

This property for rent is not a hotel, agritourism, B&B or similar, and therefore by law, extra services similar to those you may find in these types of accommodations, such as a reception, concierge or security, receiving mail, provision of meals and drinks, cleaning and change of linen during your stay, and amenity kits with soaps etc. are strictly prohibited.

Reviews

  • 4.3/5 I rented Tiziano for 3 weeks in July and it was true to description and pix on site. Great location, can walk to all attractions, yet not touristy and more smaller older shops in area. Right near Santo Spirito piazza with great good, beautiful church and lively people. Apt: living room is cozy and perfect. Bedroom upstairs is very comfortable although since on top floor, even with air conditioning on it does not cool as rest of place, so I got a fan from the offices downstairs and that worked great. Kitchen is great for cooking up italian meals. All amenities were good. Very safe apartment building as I was staying alone -great building and the Windows on Italy offices are just downstairs if you need anything or have questions. Highly recommended.
  • 4.4/5 We stayed over the weekend in Florence and bumped by accident into the site "Windows on Italy". Lucky choice. Very nice and easy going, but proff service in advance and handling when on location. It became our home in Florence that weekend and since it has top wifi we also watched "Room with a view" on laptop to give things even more autenticity. Location pretty close to restaurants with reasonable prices. However the really good ones, who dont flag too much with their capabilities you have to reserve days in advance. If not succeding in this the "Dante" restaurante right across also has class service. Enjoy Florence and we cant recommend better place than this. Stop searching. This is the real deal!
