The Duomo area constitutes the very heart of Florence and the area takes its name from Brunelleschi’s magnificent dome on the wonderful Santa Maria del Fiore cathedral. The Duomo neighbourhood offers an array of beautiful historical buildings and superb piazzas including the Mercato di San Lorenzo, the Piazza del Duomo and Piazza della Repubblica, famous for its attractive cafes, patisserie shops, live music, street performers, and caricature artists. The Florence city centre is a ZTL zone which means a “limited traffic zone” and therefore special rules apply to when you can enter this area. This particular apartment is in fact located within the ZTL zone so this means that if you are thinking of coming to Florence by car and wish to drive around and park, then you will need to pay special attention to the road signs, CCTV cameras and access cameras (they will show either a red /green light) in order to avoid receiving fines. Guests who need to travel within the ZTL zone by car to reach their apartment are advised to contact one of the private garages in the centre (the one nearest the apartment you are staying in) and obtain a temporary access permit. Upon arrival at the garage, guests must specify their need for access in the ZTL and the garage will then note the vehicle’s number plate and forward it to the appropriate police headquarters.

This property for rent is not a hotel, agritourism, B&B or similar, and therefore by law, extra services similar to those you may find in these types of accommodations, such as a reception, concierge or security, receiving mail, provision of meals and drinks, cleaning and change of linen during your stay, and amenity kits with soaps etc. are strictly prohibited.

  • 4.1/5 We rented through our travel agent John Clifford, he found Windows on Italy and they had some of the best choices in apartments I had seen on the web. Once we were there Anna and her associates were very responsive and helpful and even helped arrange maid service for us half way through our stay. Two bedrooms and two bathrooms was great for us. We used the smaller bedroom as a walk in closet to contain our exploding suitcases and we could each have separate bathrooms. The kitchen, though sort of bare bones at a glance, ended up having nearly everything we needed. I suggest bringing some plastic wrap, paper-towels and re-sealable bags with you if you are staying more than a few days. We LOVED the terrace and though it didn't have a typical view, it reflected the sunset light beautifully and it was fun checking out the neighbors' laundry every day opposite us. The kitchen table looks out on the terrace as well and we really enjoyed our meals in that location. There is a washer but no dryer (typical for Italy). If crunchy clothes bother you bring your own detergent and liquid softener or take them to a regular laundromat. The apartment is in the perfect location in the center of Firenze. Right near the Ponte Santa Trinita which is the best place to hang out and watch sunsets. The street has very little traffic and there was an elevator in case of large loads or weary legs. The taxi stand is also 40 feet from the building entrance, a major plus for both arriving and leaving. If I had to pick a best and worst... I'd say not having a dryer would be the worst, and the location would be the best.
