MICHELANGELO Firenze, Palazzo Salviati
|
|
|
| Location:
The apartment is situated in one of the liveliest quarters of the historic centre, around Piazza Santa Croce (only 100 meters away!) and the famous Bargello Museum. The area is restricted to traffic, we therefore suggest that you leave your cars in the nearby garages. The neighbourhood is full of restaurants, theatres, museums and shops to satisfy any taste. In mid June Piazza Santa Croce is set up for the colourful event of the Calcio Storico Fiorentino (litt. Florentine historical soccer).
Through the typically narrow streets of the medieval core of town, you can easily reach Piazza Duomo, the Ponte Vecchio, the Uffizi Gallery.
Daytrips to Siena (70km), Lucca (80 km), Pisa (95 km) are really easy to organize due to their closeness to Florence.
External description:
The apartment is located inside Palazzo Salviati, a XV century building completely restored in 1996 under the strict ordinance of the “Sovrintendenza delle Belle Arti” (Fine Arts Commission); it is considered to be a classic example of late Medieval Florentine art and is preserved as an historical monument.
The splendid stone façade, the magnificent pietra serena-stone staircase, the wooden Renaissance coats of arms and the XV century frescoes enhance the elegance of the palace. On the second floor there is a small terrace at disposal of all the guests, which offers a spectacular panorama over the city. At the ground floor of the building, and with its own independent entry around the corner, there is a typical Florentine restaurant, “Osteria del Caffé Italiano”. Here you can taste delicious Tuscan recipes and prestigious wines, and experience the splendid architectural features of the palace.
